About Copic

Why are Copics so special?

The color formulation has been the same for as long as it has existed; the colors are bright and uniform. They are easily faded, even years after the drawing is completed. Once purchased, you won't have to throw them away, just replace the tip and refill. Each individual Copic is tested 3 times and the last check is done by hand. There are 358 colors available. And if you can't find the right color, you can create it for yourself using Copic ink refills and Copic blank markers.

What is the difference between the different types of Copic markers?

There are three types of Copic markers: Copic Sketch, Copic Copic Ciao and Copic Classic. (* Copic Wide is only available empty). All inks used are of the same quality, and all markers can be refilled with Copic Ink over and over again. The type of nib (marker tip) and the amount of ink vary by type, so choose the one that best suits your purpose and taste,

Copic Sketch : 358 colors.
Standard Copic pattern used by many professionals regardless of genre, such as illustration, manga and design. Can also be used with Copic airbrush.

Copic Ciao : 180 colors.
,Has the same tips and quality as Copic Sketch however contains less ink. Suitable for all types of drawing, perfect for those just starting out.

Copic Classic : 214 colors.
This is a long-standing model released in 1987, and is mainly used for creating drawings and graphic illustrations. There are two types of tips, broad and fine, which are different from the tips of the Copic Sketch and Copic Ciao.

What is the difference between 100 (Black) and 110 ( Special Black)?

100 (Black) is a slightly bluish dark black that goes well with cool grays.
110 (Special Black) is a clean black that goes well with neutrals.
Since this difference is slight, use it according to your taste. In terms of ink density, 100 contains more dye.

What do the letters and numbers on Copic markers mean?

Copic assigns each color a "color number" consisting of letters and numbers according to its color system.
The letter corresponds to the initial of the English name of the color corresponding to each hue, such as red ( R of red), blue ( B of blue) and earth colors ( E of earth).
The number at the center groups colors with similar hues even within the same hue. The closer the number is to 0, the more transparent the color, and the closer the number is to 9, the muddier and more complex the color tends to be.
The other numbers represent brightness levels, with "000" being the brightest and "9" becoming the darkest.

Can I take my Copics on the plane?

Copic markers can also be carried on the plane in hand luggage, Copic Ink (Copic Ink) may be prohibited. It is always best to ask the airline for clarification.

There are so many colors and I don't know what to buy. Which one should I choose?

Copic ink can be over-inked several times to make the same color darker, so we recommend that you start with lighter colors. At first, choose about 10 colors from what you can use for what you want to draw or based on your favorite colors. If it is difficult to choose a single color, you can always start with a set.

How should I store my Copics?

We recommend storing Copics and inks in a cool place out of direct sunlight. If you leave the marker exposed to direct sunlight or strong ultraviolet rays, the casing may deteriorate, crack, or fade.
After using Copics and Multiliners, we recommend storing them horizontally to prevent uneven ink distribution (even if the ink is unevenly distributed, the ink will come out smoothly if you wait for a while).
Copic Ink is flammable, so be sure to store Copic Ink (Copic Ink) in a place away from fire.

How long does a Copic last?

In fact, Copics can last a very long time if you pay attention to the environment in which you store them and refill the marker properly using Copic Ink. The tips can be replaced.Since the marker's casing is made of plastic material, it will deteriorate over time, so avoid leaving your marker in high temperatures and humidity and store it in a place not exposed to direct sunlight.

What is marker 0?

Among all the 358 colors, the only ink that has no color is "0 (colorless Blender)." Blender is used for so many things: it allows you to correct, to create effects.

Is it possible to use Copic to color metal, glass, etc.?

Copic ink is dye ink, so it creates color when absorbed into the fibers of paper or cloth. Metal and glass are not suitable because the ink does not penetrate and the dye remains on the surface.

How do you refill a Copic marker pen?

Prepare Copic ink of the same color as the Copic you wish to refill.
Use tweezers to pull out the broad tip (square tip) of the Copic marker and insert the ink nozzle directly into it to refill.
