Illustration with a colorful cat With Copic sketches

Copic Floral Favorites 2 and Cat Day.

To celebrate Cat Day together, here is a themed illustration, made with the "Floral Favorites 2" set, consisting of YR21, RV23, RV25, RV29, B63 and B66, with the addition of a 0 blender.

As paper, I chose Copic Paper Selection "Custom paper," I really like both the pure white color and the thickness.

For lineart, I relied on the 0.1 and 0.3 "Cobalt" multiliners that go well with the hues in this set.

The presence of two cool tones goes well with the remaining warm tints, in fact it allows for more varied shadows and interesting gradients.

Since a color that would work for the complexion is absent, I decided to leave it almost completely white. As a first step, I cast shadows on the skin, using a mix of RV23 and B63, leaving them either pure or overlapping.

The yellow YR21 I used to brighten and contrast the remaining colors more.

Skin shadow coloring

The hair is colored primarily with B66, darkened in some areas with RV29 to generate a very intense blue-purple.

To give more variety to the hair coloring, I laid down shades by varying B66 with B63 and RV23

For the mesh, I used RV25 for the base and RV29 for the shadows, then used B63 overlay to desaturate the color and make it visually richer.

For the cat, I used a mix of B63 and B66 for the dark spots, while for the orange spots I used an overlay of YR21 and RV23.

The shadows on the white part are spread with a pass of B63 warmed slightly with RV23.

Coloring a cat with Copics

For the coloring of the second part of the image, I leave you some videos showing the steps. The steps are the same as described above, plus, in some places on the face, I used the tip-to-tip technique to dirty the blender with RV23 and create a pale pink color.

To finish, a touch of Opaque White to brighten some spots on the skin and hair.
